East Coast 4 Wheel Drive Association 50th Anniversary Race

In 1969 Fritz Runck heard about a “Jeep Hill Climb” in Pennsylvania, so off he went.  Not only they had a hill climb, but also drag raced. Lets just say he had a very successful weekend.  Armed with contacts and a meeting date, when he got home he informed the “Club”,  IOK, that they had to build a dragstrip.

Shortly thereafter Fritz, Bill Turner, Terry Heath,Wayne Hague and Freddy Jacobs loaded up and went to Pennsylvania to meet with the East Coast4 Wheel Drive  Association and join up March of 1970.  They held an unofficial race with club members only, and followed up with their first sanctioned race.  The rest so to speak is History.

Significant Events:

In 1972 the American Adventurer produced a movie about Gravelrama and the IOK FOUR WHEELERS.

In 1974, a gentleman by the name of Bob Chandler drove his big blue truck from St Louis to Gravelrama to display his lifted toy by the name of “Big Foot”
